I'm releasing an album next month, and a website I've reached out to wants to do an exclusive streaming premiere a few days before it comes out. They've asked me for "An embed-code for the record (one that would be exclusively working on [website], if possible)." Anyone know the best way to set this up?

Congrats! Were you the one that made that song about Elon Musk's GFs? If yes, I really liked that one, if not - damn we have a lot of musicians here.

An embed code is simple enough, I'm kind of scratching my head if limiting it to a specific website is even possible, but there might be some obvious gimmick I can't quite figure out. Might be best just to ask them if there's any service other bands typically use for this.

Boid Simulation In Redot

Not much to report on, I've been trying to unspaghettify the borrowed code the last 2 weeks. Spent most of the time terrified of changing too much and not being able to make sense of it afterwards, but I finally managed to take the first step with a functional result, so it should be easier going forward.

How have you been doing @Southkraut?

Home situation deteriorated, even less time for anything than usual. I got myself a Notion account so that I can use my breaks at work to jot down some notes that synchronize automatically. I'm increasingly leaning towards giving Unreal another try and just holding my nose when it comes to the aspects I don't like. But no time to actually get anything done. Thanks for keeping up the pings, it remains useful.

What is this place?

This website is a place for people who want to move past shady thinking and test their ideas in a court of people who don't all share the same biases. Our goal is to optimize for light, not heat; this is a group effort, and all commentators are asked to do their part.

Why are you called The Motte?

A motte is a stone keep on a raised earthwork common in early medieval fortifications. More pertinently, it's an element in a rhetorical move called a "Motte-and-Bailey", originally identified by philosopher Nicholas Shackel. It describes the tendency in discourse for people to move from a controversial but high value claim to a defensible but less exciting one upon any resistance to the former. He likens this to the medieval fortification, where a desirable land (the bailey) is abandoned when in danger for the more easily defended motte. In Shackel's words, "The Motte represents the defensible but undesired propositions to which one retreats when hard pressed."

On The Motte, always attempt to remain inside your defensible territory, even if you are not being pressed.
