"Western civilization would die without Israel"
It's takes like this that are utterly baffling to me. And I say this as someone who's very pro-Israel and who generally likes Jews (even though I generally hate their political leanings). Like Nikki Haley saying Israel doesn't need us, we need them, it just strikes me as a completely delusional way of looking at the relationship between Israel and the West. I'm more than happy to sell Israel all of the weapons they need to glass Gaza or replenish the Iron Dome or bomb Iran or whatever tickles their fancy, but I'm not happy to be the one paying for them via our foreign aid. Israel has clearly been very dependent on us for both arms and the funding to buy those arms, and it's completely insulting when people like Shapiro and Haley suggest that we need them and not the other way around.
You also have to factor in people with alternative ideas to universal suffrage that aren't about taking the vote away from women but would effectively lead to that for the vast majority of women in practice. I.e. those who support the idea of limiting the franchise to those who are net tax contributors.
I thought it started in 2015 with Justin Trudeau's election. When he was questioned about the diversity of his cabinet he answered "Because it's 2015?" and that got memed into all sorts of "Because it's current year?" nemes and when 2016 came around it became current year + 1.
Edit: looks like the earliest known instance of the meme is from 2014, but it became a popular meme in 2015 making fun of John Oliver (and later Trudeau). So 2024 is current year + 9 for standard usage of the meme:

Trump is only three years younger than Biden
Regarding 10, if you go back far enough Islam is seen as a schism from Christianity by some writers. Notably Dante has Muhammad being tormented in hell as a schismatic, not as a pagan/non-Christian/whatever.
Well then it's a good thing my uncle works at Nintendo, he gave me a Nintendo 65. No you can't see it, I loaned it to my girlfriend who lives in Canada and is totally real.
Probably most famously in DMX's "Where the Hood at" which straight up talks about murdering gay and trans black men:
Last I heard, y'all niggas was havin' sex (uh) with the same sex (woo) I show no love (yeah) to homo thugs (nah) Empty out, reload, and throw more slugs (boom) How you gonna explain fuckin' a man? Even if we squash the beef, I ain't touchin' your hand (aight?) I don't fuck with chumps (yeah) For those that been to jail, that's the cat with the Kool-Aid on his lips and pumps (uh)
It appears he may have serious substance abuse problems and be a swinger of sorts, and he and his wife and another female friend were arrested on drug charges recently. This all happened a few months after someone sent him a Sonichu medallion in the mail along with a note saying "you are the next chosen one" or something like that. He wore the medallion on stream, leading people to theorize that it was cursed.
Edit: there's also a child endangerment charge in there, I'm assuming it's related to something involving his own kid
LotGH is far above the average for stories when it comes to caring about the plot and world making sense, but even then it has a few things that seem poorly explained/motivated. Off the top of my head:
Everyone's insistence of following Commodore Fork's invasion plan regardless of how retarded it was
Trunicht's motivation for letting the child emperor live in alliance territory and form a government in exile
Almost everything surrounding the Reuental Revolt, though I feel like the author was starting to run out of steam at that point
Translations of the first two books were ok (not amazing). They changed translators for book 3 onwards and they were pretty awful, it would have been almost impossible for me to follow if I hadn't already seen the anime.
The Seychelles coup attempt only had 53 mercenaries, and by all accounts could have likely succeeded if airport security hadn't detected their weapons.
A society that requires constant war to flourish
But does fascism actually require war to flourish? Spain and Portugal, Pinochet's Chile, etc. seem like strong counterexamples for this.
By the third trimester, there will be hundreds of babies inside you.
Kiwi Farms has a good phrase for this sort of thing: rat king. There are a lot of extremely online trans people that all seem to know each other, promote each other, carry water for each other when one is accused of bad behavior, etc.
If the paradisal order was so great, hunter-gatherers wouldn't have been getting stomped by farmers for the last 10,000 years. Yes, occasionally the nomad horse-archers went out on great rampages to beat the farmers - but they always lose in the end.
Point of contention, you're conflating hunter-gatherers with pastoralists. Pastoralists (like the Mongols) dominated agriculturalists regularly until the last few hundred years.
How is payment for signing an NDA not actually legal expenses?
Do your older siblings tell you you were adopted because they hate orphans, or do they do it because it gets to you in a way that other insults and teasing don't?
How many people absolutely need to low latencies
It's not about need, it's about want, and even when it is about need HughesNet can't meet the need and paying $100 a month for Starlink sounds a hell of a lot better than your suggestion of... buying a different house in a less rural location?
I don't know how things are in the US
Clearly. Look up population density for the US compared to most European countries and you'll understand, maybe. You also might understand (one of the many reasons) why public transit in the US is so much more difficult.
Looking at the previous thread that roystgnr linked, I see you arguing that HughesNet of all things has comparable speeds and prices to Starlink.
Speed is hardly the only important factor for an internet connection. HughesNet has latency in the 600-800ms range, making online gaming impossible and phone calls an intolerably laggy mess. It has hard data caps that make watching streaming video in any significant quantity a non-starter. And it has a horrifically slow upload speed, something like 3 Mbps, which would make my (and many other people's) work from home jobs impossible.
Starlink has none of these limitations. I gotta agree, into the Gell-Mann amnesia bucket you go.
Even before Starlink launches began, SpaceX was launching roughly three times as many rockets as ULA per year
I don't have a WSJ subscription so I can't confirm the details, but it looks like Starlink turned profitable ~4 years after thet started launching the satellites, which is a pretty crazy turnaround given the massive amount of capital poured into it: https://www.wsj.com/tech/behind-the-curtain-of-elon-musks-secretive-spacex-revenue-growth-and-rising-costs-2c828e2b?page=1
Also Falcon 9 launches were both profitable and undercutting the competition by massive margins before SpaceX ever landed a single booster. The space industry was beyond ripe for disruption.
The highest ranking female chess player ever, Judit Polgar, is ranked 61st overall. There aren't any other females in the top 100. It beggars belief that mere implicit discrimination would be enough to turn the game so strongly against females at the highest levels., but I don't expect feminists to understand what something not even passing the smell test means. If there was actual explicit discrimination and rules barring women from joining they might have a point.
This seems wildly arbitrary.
And it is the right of a nation to make such arbitrary decisions.
Even worse, pronouns are for when you talk about someone, not to them, so they really make no sense. They're for identification of a third party between you and someone else, the third party's feelings about what you call them are largely irrelevant because they're generally not even present when pronouns are used.
