He thinks you meant to say "stand for censorship or oppose it" but you actually said "stand for censorship or (stand) opposite (of) it"
But also, "stand for censorship or [stand] opposite [of] it" makes no grammatical sense. Which makes it sound even more erroneous, even if that is what was meant. Nobody says "stand opposite of [an idea]", you only say "stand opposite of" something that occupies a physical space.
