This is my opinion of the incident. A full conspiracy has too many moving parts. Willfully being bad at your job and leaving an opening a child could find is my default assumption.
DEI SS being this incompetent seems like a stretch. Willfully not giving a shit because you think Trump is Hitler makes sense to me. Somehow you need to get to the hive mind doing its thing without everyone being coordinated. Cheedle being a neverTrumper type gets you one part of the hive mind working in concert.
This incident further highlights to me how important project 2025 is going to be. Washington is against Trump and either thru direct action or choosing to be lazy won’t work with him.
Some of those tweets are very bad. The one person talked about Blackrock and Vanguard ownership in the firm. From what I can tell they are quoting that that firm owns shares in etfs by Blackrock and Vanguard. Which is a nothing burger.
I can’t verify the RIA that supposedly had a big short. It feels off too. 13-F I can find online don’t have show it and was last updated end of June.
Cites I can find on google are not showing the same data on the short increase.
And fwiw as I said before there was insider information that would encourage short sales. Trump worked out a deal to sell 2 billion worth of stock.
Edit: seems like firm in question gave an update that a client owned 12 puts and this was a data entry error.
Honestly looks like incompetence to me. The conspiracy would seem to need to be too big to be pulled off. You would have needed to recruit idiot kid to do the shooting and also need local police to be incompetent and not stumble on him.
If you recruited idiot kid to do the shooting then you have to hope local police do not take him alive.
There are too many points of failure and too many people who would need to be in the know for this to have been a legitimate conspiracy to assassinate Trump.
I take this as evidence that our institutions have completely rotted away with DEI and we no longer have institutional capabilities to do anything. Its a nation in decline except that tech scales and we have like 1k smart people in San Fran doing things.
The curtain has been pulled back. The big reveal was Biden at the debate. This is why Trump is unbeatable now. Everyone knows the country is in decline and poorly managed now.
Do you have the source on that?
Was it one guy? Could it have just been market making activity. I guarantee things like gme get billions a day in short sales when they are memeing. I shorted gme a few times lately. Trump stock is a meme stock and there are going to be guys doing all sorts of things.
If it’s one guy shorted $300 million it would be interesting. Because without a specific catalyst it’s a meme stock and you can lose 10-40x in a couple days.
A secondary catalyst why someone would short is Trump already had a soon to be announced stock offering in the company for 2.3 billion. Could have been front running that announcement if someone got tipped off.
I will be honest I then have no idea what you mean by moderate.
The post liberal caeser types by your definition of moderate I believe they are moderate. Vance has said he wouldn’t have counted the 2020 vote and wants to dismantle the beaucracy. You know from his background that he’s well thought out both camps. It is in his lived experience from where he grew up to having had very leftist friends at Yale. Which is far different that some who grew up on the UES and went to Yale law. He has clearly been a card carrying member of both tribes.
The fact you used the Caeserist types those are probably the most moderate because those tend to be some of the most well read people on the political map. Who have read and thought about everything.
I don’t think the conventional definition of radical versus moderate is unrelated to political positions.
I feel like most people would consider Peter Thiel, Yarvin, Hanania as radical right, but they all feel like moderates to me by the way you define moderate. I use the word grey tribe for these types.
Without more knowledge on your beliefs you sound like a radical right grey triber based on being anti-gay marriage.
“ I adopt a posture that is skeptical of passion in politics, or people who are deeply invested in an organised political vision.”
This just feels like how I described centrism. Apolitical. Lack of vision. Just taking center of Overton window.
I know Trump is described as a radical rightist. His political views though are largely to the left of Bill Clinton. He favors less mass incarceration. He’s pro-choice (though aligned with Pro-Life judges), he’s pro gay marriage. He’s largely anti-market - trade protectionism. The current right largely backs ‘90s style race relations.
Politics is a real thing. It effects people’s lives. It’s very important to national and personal success. I just played basketball with a few Venezuelans. It matters. They are living in a foreign land because politics were bad at home.
The thing about centrists is they actually encourage Overton window pushing. If 60% of voters are just going to vote for the middle of the Overton window then the correct strategy is to push the Overton window wide. And then the median view comes closer to where you want it.
Take abortion as an issue. Right now the Overton window has one it’s right ban abortion. On its left abortion till 9 months. The centrist position is basically 16 weeks and then banned. If my goal is to ban abortion I need to get discussing the negatives of birth control into the public conscience as a respectable position. Then the centrist position becomes ban abortion.
The left did this with gay marriage. They made pronouns and gender surgery for kids into the Overton window. Now nobody questions gay marriage when in 2005 it was not passable as legislation.
If you had a hard view of abortion after 16 months is bad then if my side pushed to ban birth control then the right would lose elections. Instead centrism makes polarization beneficial because moving the Overton window moves the centrist position.
I do not believe this is a charitable take at all. While some people as you describe “ anger, bloodlust, and sadism, not by any beautiful or noble feelings.”
I consider it a viable political strategy. It’s downstream of how states have always been made. You forcefeed your state’s founding memes on school children in your public schools. You force people to learn a common tongue. You promote families by slut shaming and in the past removing from the rest of society the young girls who got pregnant.
Enforcing cultural norms is basic civilization building.
I think some on the left did canceling for fun, but I do think many of them thought what they were doing was for the good of society. I think it’s obvious the right canceling corporations has had a positive effect on society.
“Free Speech is a spook, an incoherent concept that collapses the very instant it drifts outside the bounds of a rigidly coherent values environment”
I’ve been saying this for a few years. Free speech is a fiction once speech becomes a real threat to the power.
The young in America had been taken in by Hamas thought. For the Jews does it make sense to suppress the speech or let it continue to spread? And Holocaust 2 occurs. It’s unquestionable that you suppress speech in that situation.
If you have a culture that is 80-90% heavily supported and secure in its power then free speech is a nice thing. Having 10-20% of weirdos in the population talk about other ideas isn’t a threat to the regime.
I realized a while ago that I supported Pinochet. His economic regime made Chile the richest country in the region. His regime faced a legitimate communists threat.
If my choice is suppress free speech or my country becomes a communists hell hole then it’s an easy decision for me.
My thoughts on firing HD lady are changing today. I guess people like her vote and provide cover for the elites. Perhaps it’s a good thing to get the message to people like her what is the appropriate way to think by firing a couple foot soldiers.
Winning and crushing your enemies makes peace. I am not sure if a country can have two roughly equally matched cultures. It’s probably clear at this point it’s the only solution.
A key to winning will be getting the Jews on board. They dominate media and the influencer space. Democrats mistake with Hamas helps a lot on this front.
I don’t support going after Home Depot lady. She would have fallen inline once a dominate culture emerges.
Not making them feel pain hasn’t muted their desire to punish. That’s been the status quo since atleast the 1980’s and things have only gotten worse.
Things that have seemed to limit them some is Musks taking over twitter which let the right organize these attacks too. Desantis punishing Disney.
I am against going after the peasantry like Home Depot girl. I see my aunt or mother in her. We 100% should be punishing the leaders and taking scalps when we can. Disney and the executive class is fair game.
I think you can stretch fraud statutes enough to cover that.
I think moderate and centrists are roughly the same and synonyms.
I have nothing against a centrists. You can live a happy life in country with bad government. You show up to work everyday, marry the cute girl, impregnate your wife a few times, and raise a few good kids. It’s a fine noble life.
But it does not give them some moral high ground on politics or an enlightened view. It’s hoping politics works out in a way that doesn’t ruin their life.
Not everyone needs to be airplane engineers. And know every intricate detail. You can still ride the airplane, but you are hoping the dude at Boeing is a good engineer.
In general I don’t think the Geneva Convention ever bans things that win wars. An example would be chemical weapons. They don’t win wars but kill a lot of civilians therefore they are banned. Cluster munitions US did not sign up for banning. We find that useful.
AI would be a war winning tech. He who wins the wars makes the rules. AI won’t be banned.
I think it turns into a crime if you make it a business record. If you say it on Skype where it is recorded then it’s part of the business record. If it’s a lie then it’s falsified. I don’t think in the statute it says it needs to be relevant to operations. But it would be a falsified record about the business. You described an employee who is ugly as beautiful which is false.
When they go after Home Depot lady they are going after essentially their own people. Those not smart enough to have perfect grace on knowing what memes are appropriate at a given time.
I am all for canceling Bud Light and over educated Bud Light marketing VP but attacking the working class is just wrong. It’s not in the best interest of the right.
Centrism is only good if the center is good. A centrist was pro-Hitler, pro-Stalin, pro-Mao, pro-FDR, pro-Reagan, pro-war on drugs, pro-mass incarceration, pro-Iraq War, pro-KKK, extremely racists, extremely reverse racism. They were likely pro a lot of things I would consider good too.
It’s an intellectually lazy philosophy of not taking the time to think thru an issue and form an opinion. A lot of the time you are not able to form a wise opinion so it gets tough. Being pro-Iraq war seems reasonable then because Cheney did some so CIA games and laundered false intel to the American people that you couldn’t verify.
Centrism is just assuming the current Overton window is correct. But the Overton window moves and thus makes a centrists opinion incompatible with views a centrist would have had just a few short years ago.
The left also immediately tried to make the right wear the Pelosi beating. Controlling narratives does matter. The left lives off this.
If a trans women is killed by his lover we get articles about the rise in maga fueled transviolence. If black men start beating up Asians it’s because of white supremacists maga fueled Asian hate. If some rope is found in a nascar garage near a black man it’s maga fueled KKK racism.
There is a real need to control the narrative quickly while it’s in the news cycle. If Pelosi’s attacker was his gay lover and you didn’t fight for the narrative then half the country 4 years later would believe it was maga because that is the story that ran while it was in the news cycle.
Googling this to refresh my memory. Turns out the judge didn’t bar the former FEC guy from testifying. The judged barred him from giving expert opinion on the law.
I guess for rules of evidence it’s probably legally correct. There is a bigger problem here because when cases get more complex judges become less of the expert on the law.
The felony case is a lot like the judge telling the jury that eating a ham sandwich is murder. And then they showed a picture of Trump eating a ham sandwich.
I believe the former federal elections commissioner wanted to testify saying it was not a crime. I don’t know rules of evidence that well but that sounds like a guy very qualified to explain the evidence.
He’s correct it is a crime.
But every white color worker who has to document their work probably commits it every other day.
Putting the wrong category in quicken is a crime. Telling your co-worker she’s beautiful when she’s bummed a date went bad is a crime.
They pretty much did tell the court fuck you. They were told it’s unconstitutional. They did it anyway. Cases take a long time to make it thru the system. He did it anyway. Sounds like a coup to me.
Choosing not to enforce the border and abusing the meaning of the word “asylum” while importing voters and using tax payer money is a coup in my book. Words have meanings. Asylum when the law was written meant something very specific - as in facing direct violence due to political belief. Biden decided it means I make $1 an hour in Guatemala and want American money.
You can say this is “exploiting loopholes”, but laws and words are always going to have a great deal on inexactness to them. And as the years go by people change the meaning of the word.
I don’t even know what you are complaining about with bureaucrats. They aren’t elected people. How is that a coup? It’s not like importing millions of voters, banning proof of citizenship, and changing election results.
By this standard Biden has couped too. The border and student loans would both be considered illegal actions.
Changing bureaucrats is above competency at enacting your agenda - Democratically. The outgoing people may be competent but they are partisan robots too that will interfere with your agenda and not do their job. Intellectually and functionally competent but they will still not execute the executives policy.
I hate to see HBD in everything but the reason you see - rust belt town kid - repudiates culture and joins blue/grey tribe is because there are a lot of them. It’s a very common path.
I think these towns may be starting to run out of high IQ stock as they are filtered out but they are relatively young in the filtering process. Like a generation back. These are coal mine or steel mill immigrant communities 70-100 years ago. The mills closed in roughly the ~’80s.
Baltimore just doesn’t have the stock to have these people emerge in large numbers.
Maybe. I don’t have the inside baseball on these things. Michael Kors getting bought the stock is trading like it won’t be approved.
Is this just a case of the luck of the draw on the judge draw? Both judges though were appointed by Biden.
This is a bad look for right twitter. If the guys smart enough to understand a Bloomberg then he’s also smart enough to understand there is no relationship with blackrock other than blackrock making 10 bps on some etfs they put in client accounts. They are actually saying that BlackRock owns this firm.
This is a bad thing when people are willfully lying to people. Especially when you have a lot of real things to fill up your twitter influencer accounts. This makes the right look grade school intelligence.
