While it's literally true that Venezuela is not a narco-state, it's hard to imagine it getting any worse than it already is. The reason it's not a narco-state now has probably more to do with the surrounding economics (oil is more valuable than drugs) than the current government's competence.

Of course, the other element of the metaphor is that you're not just shredding for the sake of it: there have been a lot of productivity gains from the agglomeration effects of cities. "IQ shredders" points to the trade-offs present in urbanization.

As I understand it, this is part of the problem: since your loss ratio is floored at 80%, you don't have a strong incentive to manage costs. There is actually a bit of the opposite one: the higher the costs, the higher the premiums, and the bigger is the base from which you derive profits.

I hate commissions as much as anyone, but that doesn't seem outrageous for this kind of strategy, it's probably far cheaper than trading it on your own, considering the outrageous commissions for futures contracts.

Those are different trades, though. (Warning: speculation on the price fluctuation of assets) The gold rally is due to a combination of "debasement trade" (the idea that current debt levels are unsustainable and the only way out is via printer) and a bet on multipolarity (USD status as reserve currency being threatened, due to a variety of reasons), silver is a speculative derivative of the same trade, as far as I know there is a lot of silver to mine everywhere still.
What @thejdizzler is talking about is a structural undersupply of copper, long term. I'm not actually sure if copper futures are the best expression of that trade, I assume you've bought the longest dated ones available?

I think not all entertainment is created equal for this purpose, forms of entertainment in which talent is more legible usually face less of this kind of criticism. There is a sense in which Shaq has less input than Bonnie Blue for his success, but nobody has any doubt that he's one of the best to ever do it. As you go further down the chain here (actors, adult performers, influencers), the "unfairness" becomes more salient.

Yes, actually that was a point I wanted to make and forgot about. The cost of labor is so high in rich countries that the quality of life for the middle class and the rich are degraded
This is my hope for an AI scenario: the downward pressure on labor cost should make services all around so much better. Of course, this really would only be good overall if the deflationary effects made up for it in total purchasing power.
