Why not? There’s virtually no downside.
There is a lot of downside. Institutions, captured as they might be, have a lot of value. There has been a lot of pain in Argentina from Milei's reforms, and we were in much worse shape than the US already.
Real dramatard hours over here.
It’s much harder to get cancelled or persecuted for something you said if it’s obscured and kept behind the loyalty test of listening to 4 hours of podcast.
You'd think so, but ,back in the day, Shane Gillis got cancelled exactly like that.
If your profile is lower, yeah, probably. I don't like this, because I'd hate for people to have more excuses to send endless whatsapp voice messages .
In so far as the punching up/punching down framework is helpful
This is a personal crusade far removed from the much more important topic of the election, but it isn't. It has never been, and it probably never will be. The person who introduced it is a cartoonist who has never made anyone laugh in his entire life, and it hasn't been endorsed by anyone who's actually funny (except maybe Bo Burnham, I don't know that he has, but he might've).
That's a drop in the water though. This place hasn't been healthy for a long time, and arguably wasn't even at its conception.
I don't think it can be, nobody just stumbles into these offshoot communities, so they tend to degenerate into a very base form of whatever birthed them into existence.
If anything, I'm kind of impressed at how similar this place seems to the subreddit from two years ago, although values-level disagreement is obviously lower.

While I find the argument "you have to let the democrats win in order to fight wokeness" to be wishcasting at best (and disingenuous depending on the source), there is something that is undeniably true: The Trump years were a bonanza to the NGO industrial complex, news media companies and other related grifters.
Will this resume again in Trump pt II? There have been claims that the mood is different now, more deflated and tired. But things are often different until they aren't, specially if Trump ends up being more effective this term.
