Every other Indian family on your block has a family member that they're trying to get to the US using existing laws. These people are probably not going to vote to shut down legal immigration until they've brought all the people they need first. Perhaps they'd even vote to make it more like Canada.

Perhaps the videos were not reflective of the situation up to this point. Perhaps the Ukrainians who did not flee immediately as soon as orders were given by whoever is in charge of the West were really willing to die. Then they got their wishes and we have a lot more videos as impressment becomes more urgent. I suppose this is more recent development, here's an article from a month ago.
At the River Tisa, which acts as the border from southwestern Ukraine to Romania, guard patrols used to focus on catching tobacco smugglers but now collar fleeing draft dodgers. About 6,000 people have been detained trying to leave across that stretch, the border guards told Reuters. One of them, Dyma Cherevychenko, said at least 19 people had drowned trying to flee the country during the conflict.
The more striking act of resistance so far, a couple weeks old. A village councillor in western Ukraine has thrown grenades on to the floor of a council meeting, wounding 26 people, police say.
How did he get those grenades, and why is he the only one doing it?
My prediction for 2024: there will be few male Ukrainians ready to die for the Ukraine government, and the ones that do will be quite old.
It really is a marvel of media bubble. I wonder how many Ukrainians who died on the battlefield ever read a quote from the Americans who 'support' them.

The US won in Ukraine by the first week of the war. Everything since then is bleeding Russia for free without risking a single American serviceman’s life. The cost is minuscule - food stamps cost vastly more, as do countless other bullshit federal programs - and much of Russia’s most elite fighting capacity has been slaughtered and replaced with 80 IQ Central Asian peasant conscripts using WW1 trench tactics. Sure, Ukraine is destroyed, but they wanted to fight and, to paraphrase the immortal words of Lord Farquad, that’s a price we’re willing to pay.

I know this is not what this comment was about, but why was a 1-2% odds of Kyle getting killed assigned in this case?
Hypothetically speaking, if Kyle had not shown up with a rifle, perhaps he would have been fine, but what if I recall correctly happened was that one crazy guy, who kept antagonizing Kyle's crew all evening prior to the dramatic conclusion, ran after him and attacked him from behind, while a second character actually shot at Kyle.
While perhaps Kyle would have been fine if he hadn't started shooting, the combination of getting melee-attacked and a second character closing in on him with a gun does not give me a 98% confidence in his survival.
People routinely die from their head hitting the ground after getting punched, multiple grown men (convicted felons) ganging up on one person with no accountability in sight doesn't forebode well.
At least Kyle made a good example pour encourager les autres. When there's a riot and ACAB, sometimes punching nazis is not enough, especially if the nazis in question are full-grown teenagers with more martial instinct than half a dozen antifas combined.

Meanwhile the actual Ukrainian army is not particularly left-wing, owes much of its success to the Ukrainian people being more patriotic/nationalistic than Russia expected, and by the way a surprisingly successful force in pushing that sense of anti-Russian patriotism was a militia of literal neo-Nazis who were subsequently successfully integrated into the mainstream army and political system.
I agree. The Ukraine government is oddly successful at sending men to their death. You'd expect from all these street press gang videos that at least a few low-level officers would get shot by desperate soldiers, but they must be really good at compartimentalizing.
Perhaps the new recruits only get ammunition 5min before going to clear the minefield with their legs, or maybe they really get fired up by the patriotic speech at the camp?
I really wonder what I would do in such a situation, probably not much. It'd only take a couple guys to carry me into a van and after that it's probably game over?
And then there's all these men. Imagine being the guy shoving Ukrainian men into a van to send them to the trench. You didn't manage to escape and you have to keep doing it, and the more you do it, the longer the war lasts, the more likely you are to get sent as well. Then you end up in the minefield and all you can think about is 'if only I killed that commanding officer on day 1, how many men could I have saved?'.
I talked to a guy who was doing business importing sunflower oil from Ukraine, but he ran into personnel issues. He'd hire a Ukrainian man to pick up and deliver across the border but then they'd abandon the truck after crossing.

Isn't that just cherry picking (or perhaps peach picking) tho? Did they do well in Houston through Hurricane Harvey? Did they do well in News Orleans through Katrina? Cities that grew with big industry are not doing that well after decades of deindustrialization while cities that have other niches (logistics, transportation or energy) do better. So do their underclass.
Perhaps it is true that it is better to be black in the South of the US, and I would wager that it has to do with a better understanding between black and white Southerners.
Perhaps the whites that could not stand living with them already went North, or never moved to the South in the first place, just like they retreated from the city of Detroit to the suburbs when the federal government started bussing their kids to black schools, in living memory.
I could see a difference between a 'racist' plantation owner who entrusts his children to a black servant in his own home and a 'racist' Midwestern who refuses to share a ZIP code with them.

What is the point of a 6 years relationship?
Based on that woman tolerating that, she was probably not a good partner. It shouldn't take more than a year to figure out whether a person is good or not, ideally in chastity. If you can't, ask your older relatives, that's what family is for.
Women only get a couple decades of healthy reproduction, taking 6 whole years away from them is cruel.
I might be missing out on more.
Can you elaborate on that? What is it that some hypothetical woman would bring to the table that would make wasting ~8 years of your adult life worth it (realistically speaking you're not gonna be serious before at least 2 years with a new partner even if you found them tomorrow)?

Is the PUA-scene still a thing?
My understanding of it was that the main message was: Go outside (touch grass), talk to as many women as possible and then you'll catch one or several. Wrapped up with some lingo, florid description, esoteric psychology, and with additional tips for managing multiple relationships/women. Nothing groundbreaking.
I think it did work for the average guy, until Tinder and other apps destroyed the market.
I would expect Covid to be the final nail, what with going outside literally being made illegal in many places.
I'm sure there are still coaches, but even back then it already seemed like too much effort, I can't imagine the sales speech to convince guys to make getting laid their 2nd job.

Yes I agree with this basic definition.
I was a member of different online groups that either directly named themselves 'alt-right' or something adjacent, so I do believe the 'alt-right' was some kind of community.
People I talked to in person had the following background : former libertarian, former communist, pagan, religious in some really quirky denomination, atheist, former or current alcoholic/drug addict, rich, poor, middle-class, college students, divorcees...
I would say one of the biggest commonalities was that they wanted to be able to joke about certain things, say the n-word, and have fun with people they have stuff in common with.
I would explain the emergence of the alt-right with the following coincidences:
- internet content started to get monetized hard. It wasn't simply infrastructure for corporate transactions, shopping, game servers... Suddenly everybody's eyeballs were on a screen and there was a real chance that any given person could be reached by your message. And that was a thrill. Still in 2022 lol. People started making real money talking in front of a camera, and far-right content creators started popping up on YouTube, Facebook and other platforms, after decades of obscurity for white nationalism and other fringe ideas.
-as the internet expanded to everybody and their grandma, the government (the feds, the glowies) and their media arm took notice. There was gamergate, and the young men who only wanted some gamer time start getting targeted as if they were guests on a late-night show. Jokes, innocuous comments, banal opinions start getting removed, accounts get banned, anti-harassment, anti-humor TOS established...
The last safe space for juvenile white fun is under siege. From edgy users to thought criminals, an entire ecosystem of anti-corporate, anti-government memes blooms.
-video media became ubiquitous. While FBI crime statistics may not convince somebody, the repeated exposure to the audiovisual facts of a white boy beaten up in a school bus in a hundred variations is sufficient to help even the most sheltered individual question the plot of the average Hollywood movie.
-between terrorist attacks and huge waves of immigrants from Africa in Western Europe, in the US anti-police riots, drug and homelessness epidemics, obscure far-right writers appeared as prophets, with for example the Camp of the Saints coming back as a best-seller.
While this massive energy was converted into the physical form of Trump and the victory of 2016, it ultimately did not deliver a phantasmagoric 4th Reich. Those who perhaps wanted to overturn the 2020 elections inadvertently forgot their guns at home when they toured the Capitol.
Now, the hardest of white supremists are probably rethinking their ambitions, hoping perhaps for a slice of territory post-civil war. The content creators that persist have mostly evaporated into grifters, as the serious ones have been so thoroughly deplatformed that they faded into obscurity, or were simply jailed or sued to bankruptcy, or perhaps they just moved on, with no practical path to political action.
Both sides have learned a lot from this. The government/media hydra have refined their control over basic infrastructure. Right-wingers are learning to go underground, to play the game and take any small win before going all-in, and perhaps we will see more Gaza-style tactics in the future, who knows.

Well the average normie only sees what the media shows them.
While a lot of Middle-Eastern countries could fit into the 'bad' category of repressing sexual or religious minorities, there are 2 cases from a Western media point of view.
There's the good Middle-Easterner, who oppresses minorities, but he's an ally of the deep state like Egypt or the UAE, so the media goes soft on them to get resources or military support from them.
And then there's the bad Middle-Easterner, who oppresses minorities, but he's not an ally of the deep state, like Iran or Syria, so the media highlights the bad stuff to create support for ongoing or future military actions against them.
Then of course if we're talking to a leftist activist, they might not straight up believe all the propaganda of the State department.
In their case I could see different ways that they can justify ongoing oppressions of minorities that they actually like.
Yes I do love the gays and islamists are throwing them down buildings, but this is a result of Western oppression. The radicals are now in power because the 'nice guy' approach did not work
There is a logic to that, supposedly Hamas is currently in power in Gaza partly thanks to the work of Israeli operatives undermining more Western-friendly alternatives...
Likewise, the Arab Spring took out authoritarian governments in Tunisia in Libya only to make room for islamists, and similar developments in Iraq led to the rise of ISIS...
There is a strong tension between the two main elements taught in American colleges :
- some identities should be privileged due to history (ie brown > white, woman > man, muslim > secular > christian...)
- the ends justify the means (America dindu nothing in Dresden and Hiroshima and the rest of the deep state's actions up to this point) - in order to get a job in corporate America
It's no surprise that people combining these 2 ideologies together would believe that the cause of 'liberating brown muslims' is worth using such means as 'killing some oppressor-coded civilians'.

What is one-sided?
When deep state members decide that one country needs to be bombed, then we find out that the muslims there have been committing all kinds of crimes, gassing civilians, repressing protests, jailing political opponents... The hysteria was very much one-sided while it was Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria...
Meanwhile billions of dollars of American taxpayer money were flowing into Israel.

In a recent Facebook post, Ray Myers wrote, “I’m a WHITE NATIONALIST and very Proud of it.” Mr. Myers later attempted to clarify his post by stating, “I am Anglo and I’m very proud of it, just like black people and brown people are proud of their race. I am a patriot. I am very proud of my country … And white nationalist, all that means is America first. That’s exactly what that means. … I mean, just like Black Lives Matter, white lives matter, too … We’re all in the same melting pot. Now why can’t we say, as Anglos, that we’re proud?”
White nationalism is a term that originated among white supremacists as a euphemism for white supremacy. The implications of Mr. Myers’ statements appear to be that America is a white nation and patriotism is synonymous with white nationalism.
ADL emphasized that “the post and comments are reason alone for removal of Mr. Myers from any leadership position with the Texas GOP.”
I see, ethno-nationalism for me but not for thee.

Americans are inundated with pro-Israel propaganda.
There is a massive lobby operating in plain sight called AIPAC that basically controls the outcomes of all elections.
Huge organizations like Ivy League colleges that you'd expect to be insulated from foreign influence thanks to their humongous cash reserves are still under great pressure by deep-pocketed activists. If anything, it seems that American politicians are more likely to be impeached for not submitting to Israeli influence.
It seems to me that it takes a certain level of passion to overcome the constant drumbeat that Israel has a right to drop bombs on women and children and that American taxpayers should feel privileged to contribute to that war effort.
And who can blame passionate Americans in 2023?
How many conspiracy theories need to be fact-checked as 'mixture' by Snopes before the 'listen to the experts' poindexters learn to sit down and listen when Qanon Karen is talking?
Maybe that passion is misplaced, I've seen commenters here make convoluted arguments to still support Israel despite all the civilian casualties, ethno-nationalism, apartheid politics, genocidal statements... And perhaps they are right, and to be fair you need to have a very high IQ to understand the true moral righteousness of Israel's war on hospitals and apartment buildings.
I don't disagree that hysteria is bad. I do believe that there is little value in listening to what women are concerned about in matters of politics.
The sister is not getting drafted to fight a war on behalf of Israel, or say, on behalf of the children of Gaza (unlikely lol), so she has little stake in that story anyway.
If she does pay more taxes than she takes, then she may be allowed to air grievances regarding which children American taxmoney is slaughtering this week.

That can't possibly be a fair comparison.
People who would uphold the West's heritage shamelessly should be easy to find, as they would fly their colors high. On the other hand non-pozzed girls have no incentive to publicize their virtue, as modesty is a central aspect of being 'non-pozzed', by opposition with OnlyFans or Twitch performers.
So if I'm not looking in the right place for people who are both pro-traditional Western values and proud to display them, where am I supposed to look? Is there a British Empire going around colonizing the world I just haven't noticed?

I believe that the best argument for HBD is that years after setting progressive diversity goals for themselves, the most powerful, wealthy, data-rich companies still can't meet them. Perhaps we need some kind of kamikazes willing to crash entire departments by hiring large numbers of random brown people to hit the diversity targets (only), but that wouldn't exactly look good for anti-racism enthusiasts.

Well how do you explain that Israel is not intentionally burying children under rubble? Don't they know that the apartment buildings or hospitals they are dropping bombs on contain children and bombs cause buildings to turn into rubble? I feel like some of the 'harm' arguments could be leveled against MSM as well, but that's a different problem I suppose.
You seem to be in the strange position where you don't think anybody should transition but you don't see a big deal with teachers and other influential adults putting pressure on children to encourage certain important life changes like transitioning.
All the influence happens online you say, it's not the teachers' or any other influential Blue, Democrat, media-supported adult's fault.
Must be a bunch of deep-red Christians on these online platforms convincing kids that they're trans and to have them disclose their new identity to the honest, hard-working teachers.
Let's just ignore that the reason these platforms, and the other side of the pipeline, the companies selling the drugs and the surgeons performing the surgery, are not getting shut down hard, is because of that soft-acceptance that is oozing of all influential parts of society.
There is so much energy available to shut down anti-vaxxers, shut down white nationalists, shut down Russian influence, but to prevent kids getting groomed into sterilization there's nobody.
I know I'm going away from the subject, but if you disagree with the concept of transition, what are you doing about it?

God doesn't say sex is sinful, as long as it's in the right context.
Would you no longer have any objections to pedophilia, or would you still think it was bad for other reasons?
I think that there are people who argue that God says things like that, and I do not listen to these people. The scriptures and tradition I choose to believe in are the ones that are congruent with my vision of what is true and right.
His response is 'I've already raped and murdered as much as I want to, which is zero, and if the only thing holding you back from that is your belief in God then please stay away from my family.'
Does he count abortion as murder? Does murder by proxy count? Would voting for abortion (or say, bombing Gaza) count?
Would any woman be able to #MeToo him (does he follow the Pence rule?) or is he the only judge of what counts as rape or what doesn't?
What about sterilizing people? Is that something wrong in the eyes of Jillette? Progressives get a lot of people sterilized these days, and they claim that it's all consensual and good, but it seems debatable to some.
I think their rhetorical reason is God but their actual proximal reasons are more about preventing harm and respecting autonomy and being a good person and so forth, same as everyone else)
Well there are wild disagreements on whether killing an unborn baby is murder or not, or whether sterilizing teenagers or MAID are a good idea, etc. One could also argue that Christians also believe that spiritual life is more important than the world, so avoiding offending God is more important than avoiding physical harm (ie hypothetically dying of hunger is better than taking the only available job at the abortion clinic, or more commonly, refusing to engage in sinful urges is better than enthusiastically embracing your 'LGBT identity').
It comes off as somewhat delusional. This comment sums it up:
If you have 2 parents with jobs, who care about your academic and musical accomplishments, you're probably doing pretty well, even if they hit you once in a while.
You're gonna get them investigated by CPS, make them lose their job, make them more stressed out or the family poorer by breaking things, for what? So you can be in the care of people who care less and are even more abusive, with fewer resources?
Ideally you'd be able to find a somewhat trustworthy adult like a relative that could take you in, but that's not something a child can easily assess.
Additionally, parents have many non-violent ways of hurting their children if they escalate. Domestic violence charges that will stick to their background checks for years while they're looking for their first job, identity theft to ruin their credit, psych ward commitment...
