I really cherish Russ and Econ Talk and get frustrated when I read the description or listen to the first few minutes and have to skip the episode, as was the case today.

I have no idea who EY is except that I think he was a conspiracy crank who posted on mma.tv for a long time - I think they're the same poster but I don't really have proof and there's nothing linking them aside from the EY thing ... And I guess it doesn't really matter. mma.tv eventually deteriorated to a white nationalist ultra weirdly right wing shit hole in the same manner that most of my favorite niche forums deteriorated to the left.

I just am fully tired of AI doomerism. It has fully failed to convince me of anything it has ever said and at this point I just want to hear about the cool and awesome future - not some bullshit about paperclips and complete civilizational destruction.

I love sports and I love women's mma but otherwise I have zero interest in women's sports.

I do, however, care about living in reality and living in a world that acknowledges some truths.

One of those truths is someone who went through male puberty will always, in every single case, have a competitive advantage over a woman.

I don't even really care that some weightlifting record has been broken or some high school girls might lose a scholarship. If anything, I think it's funny.

I just care that people are pretending about the realities of this situation.

I'm not sure how the answer isn't soaring corporate profits. Yea, the government is printing bullshit amounts of money for bullshit things, but corpo profits are higher every year.

The rich are eating us instead of the other way around.

Do I want deflation? Yes - eggs should be cheap. Bread should be cheap. Celery should be cheap. Apples should be cheap.

Do I want rent control? No ... ... But! We should be making way more money than compared to the increase in rent. I don't know the answer - the free market is kaput and I still fear the government more than corporations but it's getting close.

The American dream is done for who the American dream was supposed to be for in the first place. I'm glad IT workers are doing great, but fuck them, no offense I know a ton of them and they're fantastic people, but fuck them - the rest of us are being left behind.

I haven't met a single married couple that I would in any way whatsoever call happy. The closer I get to a married couple, the more I realize they quasi get along and usually hate each other.

I've found zero current exceptions.

I've been over the doom porn esque feel of AI talk for years now it seems and it just keeps cranking higher & higher. We're basically on track with doom porn global warming catastrophe. It's just a race to the nonexistent finish line to see who can be doomier and gloomier on what subject.

Personally I'm ready to be told AI will cure blindness, and cancer, and give us 2 hour work days, and on and on.

I can't take any of these people even remotely seriously. AI will be fine. Our lives will be better. Just like having a fridge, or shoes. But just like food poisoning or dress shoes inspired plantar fasciitis - some shit will happen. Shut up and stop trying to retard the future (not to anyone here - just a general sort of want from me).

He scored a 13 on the Wonderlic test (the test given all incoming QBs to the NFL from college) which is abhorrent and although he's clearly literate, it's hard to tell how literate. So he doesn't have an agent imo because he's a dumb guy. An agent that he would listen to would have set him straight last season - he's already lost millions by not signing last season and, like Bell and others, may never be close to recouping. But he is a QB - and he is great - and by all accounts he seems like a nice dude ... So you never know, which is what he's banking on. I just felt important to add the context of how not bright this guy actually is and why, imo, he doesn't have an agent.

My prediction is if one of your daughters is in daycare, she may be in charge of watching AIs who are watching the children.

20 years ago we couldn't imagine today even tho nothing has really changed ... Except literally the entirety of human interaction in the western world has shifted to a small device in your hand. It's why I'm shocked when some like Chuck Klosterman doesn't feel like much has changed in our culture in 20 years (not his exact point). It's that the way culture is produced, shared, and taken in has so completely changed that it feels like nothing has.

And when AIs are watching our children in two decades, it'll feel just like yesterday.
