I’ve yet to see a boomer that doesn’t think like a boomer - but I’m dumb and work retail and so meet people that are, what I would politely call more normal than some people may meet on this forum.
I’m not saying you’re rich and meet smarter and more elite thinking boomers, but I would say that if I were thinking of a fictional person on the motte.
I also agree with your take about how the youngins think about lunch, breakfast, etc.

I have two 800$ ish Seiko’s I enjoy.
One gold and one silver.
I like wearing them - it makes me feel fancy.
I did get them for 52% off when I worked at Dillard’s during our 4X annual double discount days.
Would like a nice, black Movado as well one day.
A grand Seiko maybe for retirement.
It’ll look good with my long sleeve Hawaiian shirts.

Owned neither by a billionaire nor a corporation, the Guardian remains dedicated to covering this administration with uncompromising moral and factual clarity – and to keeping trustworthy journalism paywall-free for the world.

I have a hard time remembering anything so off putting that I’ve read prior, but it’s been an interesting past 12-15 years for me reading news articles.

Or, you know, have some fun.
I’ve worked in retail my entire career, sometimes it’s fun to have a swim weekend and wear a bathing suit.
Sometimes it’s fun to wear a pink lay (pink is my favorite color).
It’s not about what you’re doing, it’s about how you carry yourself doing it.
If you don’t want to do it, don’t.
But if you don’t know if you want to do it, try it. Don’t be so negative (not you of course, the random make belief person we’re talking to here) - everyone knows retail is purgatory, it’s just ok to be goofy.
I’ve noticed men are literally afraid to do these things rather than not wanting to do them.
Tho I agree with what you’re saying, there’s just something off and jarring about it as well.
I do hate the whiny ‘ they made me do it ‘ - it is the worst possible make trait.

Stopped drinking coffee and alcohol for a year (also did two periods of 6 months).
Exercised heavily.
Meditated (poorly - but I tried).
I’m still anxious here and there but just normal life stuff I think. Never been depressed however.
Long term I believe gut health and mind health is very important too - ie having a good diet.
If you don’t know what living without anxiety feels like, or you don’t remember, take a Xanax or Valium several times a month. All of a sudden seeing what your goal is, and what life can be like, is clarifying.

Black Americans specifically in this case.
They are meaner, they are more aggressive, they are less intelligent, they are more violent, they commit more crime, their areas are way more dangerous than other poor equivalents, they prefer in group rather than out group in a way that saddens my immigrant American heart, they have incredible egos - all this and more, and this is something I learned over time rather than some bias before meeting.
Also they are incredibly, stupidly racist in caricature like fashions. They believe they are being held back by white people.
I can probably think of several more but this is what comes to mind.
This is my experience with the black American population.
Individually? It’s whatever - not like I see a black person and think any of that. It would be ridiculous - I live in a 20% plus area.
But as a whole? It’s awful - black Americans are genuinely awful. My kids go to a 50%+ school and fortunately they are in the advanced classes but fuck do I feel bad for them. One is trying to be so hard not to be a vile racist but when every bad thing that happens to you in school involves a black kid …
America needs to be 60-80% white. It’s now barely 50%.
We’re planning our retirement in the northeast or northwest.
I’m not a white supremacist - but the entirety of the world IS. Everyone wants to live in America and Canada and Europe.
And look what’s happening? The places are objectively and subjectively getting worse off.

No thank you - I’m not buying a home in an area with Black Americans.
Renting is whatever - I don’t own anything so I’m not as mad at just what I find to be a disgrace of living standards, attitudes, appearances, and safety.
Sure, help the poor. I want everyone to be able to succeed - I also want to live in a white area when I’m older and no longer an intimidating large Slavic male.
I say a lot of this because black Americans of affluence make the same issues (as do their children) as less affluent ones. Obviously less, but still noticeably higher than the rest of us.
Maybe if I grew up in Vermont I wouldn’t hold these opinions.

I mean, maybe I didn’t until you write it down and I read it, but yes I believe that the entirety of the last 46 years is cruise control by dummies.

Take Dillards for instance.
Absolute fucking clowns over at Dillards. Two good ideas (get rid of sales, lower overhead) and all of a sudden everyone is sniffing their own farts.
Dillards is good because everyone else is really bad. Dillards is still very bad, but hey it’s not Macys … even tho Macys is a nicer place to visit and has clean carpet.

People just don’t know things.
Pretty good - I’ve worked in clothing for a few years tho and have a fiancé. Prior to this I was a mess.

AE too - probably a few other nationwide places I can’t think of right now where people may truly be able and want to help out.
