Doesn’t this leave them open to a lawsuit by a white applicant who gets denied despite stellar credentials?
Disparate impact means this is a non starter for them most likely
Strange that they are Hispanic - they’re more black than Spanish
The most surprising thing to me here is the amount of white ancestry in Haiti and Jamaica
Their odds of being killed by guns are lower than the average citizen. At 1 in 11,800
This is extremely disingenuous example of lying with statistics. Sure that’s true of cops OVERALL. Cops don’t work the same environments, the same cities and the same suburbs. The places where all these altercations happen are usually highly violent and high crime locales where officers do indeed have higher fatality rates. This stat also ignores injuries - oh sure you merely got shot through the spine and paralyzed but you didn’t die, so chill out!
uncooperative within the boundaries of the law.
Is refusing a lawful order by a police officer not the opposite of this? Seems an oxymoron
Because in fact the cops ARE allowed to do that.
Perhaps technically. However this seems to be changing with public scrutiny, and officers are more exposed than ever to having their actions in high pressure situations being put under the microscope of thousands of armchair experts
Dominicans are white?
I think that’s more sour grapes than anything
She apparently beat Pence in the VP debate. I didn’t really watch but the voting afterward of who won favoured her
I couldn't believe that he still chose her after that, and then now basically gave her the nomination.
I think it makes sense to me. A lot of presidents seem to pick weak VPs on purpose in order not to be outshined. See Vance for instance, he’s articulate but not actually liked or charismatic at all. Neither is Walz.
The same can be said for men who say “pass” (although it’s mostly women who are selectors), women of the working class are majority obese. The main reason a man wants to be with a woman is her physical attractiveness but so many women lack even a basic level due to diet. I have a couple working class male friends who have long term partners and by their 30s they’re honestly kind of shrek-like
I think the population of women who don’t want to have kids isn’t really all that big. It’s pretty small actually. The reason so many women are childless, according to survey data, is that they haven’t met the right partner. Unfortunately one side effect of feminism is that it makes a large number of men suddenly unappealing. Perhaps they were always unappealing partners on some level, but we are now seeing the rise of working-class childlessness, which seems especially bleak - no, you’re not avoiding sacrificing vacations and material wealth and leisure time. You never get any of those anyway. Life for you is a true slog and when you’re elderly you’re gonna feel truly destitute of meaning. Your underpaid secretary or pink collar job won’t give you any meaning or satisfaction whatsoever. Probably this is why we are seeing alcoholism skyrocket among women.
The correct approach would be to directly attack feminism as the source of societies woes, since that’s the ideology of the working female. I have no idea how that could be coordinated though. It would take a societal and economic collapse due to low birth rates for it to happen, and maybe not even then.
Given the low income urban persons they’re interacting with plus the political correlates of anxiety/depression, I suspect this initiative it strategic in getting more democratic votes. 50k registrations is huge! Doubtful that many will come close to voting but that’s easily Enough to sway the state and thus win the election for the Dems
I do feel like republicans just don’t have near the strategic thinking necessary for this sort of thing - does Trump have a Karl Rove who can help find a path to victory?
It doesn’t benefit me if me I’m dead or my relatives die in the fighting.
How about we making immigration conditional on being automatically drafted in any foreign wars instead?
The went to war because they were drafted but they rioted heavily as a result
What does it benefit me for Taiwan to remain free? Why should I sacrifice my brother, my son; or my life for some Taiwanese and the EHC that hates me?
I would argue blacks fought hard against being forced to enlist, saying “why should we fight for a country that hates us? No viet cong ever called me nigger” and therefore benefited greatly in their fight for greater social privileges
That’s a good question, but I’m not a memeaologist so I can’t say
Yes, young men. You might even call them “youths”. But I suspect there’s considerable variability in the amount of annoyance perceived by this broad demographic
It’s increased military enlistment amongst whites? That’s strange
The Washington Post-Ipsos poll also asked about companies taking up “programs to hire more employees from groups that are underrepresented in their workforce, such as racial and ethnic minorities and people with disabilities and to promote equity in the workplace,” to which 69 percent said was “a good thing.”
Sounds like the wording of the poll was biased to get the answers WaPo wanted. Because, at least the last time I checked, this is essentially affirmative action which has always been unpopular even among African Americans
I see that moreas she’s a striver who tries to parlay identity for her own ambition and status but I see your poin t
My guess is these are black students who share their ethnicity through their personal statements.
