Not quite because the only way to incite hatred it trough speech, but there are many ways to commit treason.. The punishment for robbing a bank silently and robbing a bank shouting give me all your money should be the same

I don't see contradiction in speech being legal and you being punished for violations of duties contracts etc. Those are orthogonal concepts. You get shot for treason. Since your speech didn't incur other penalties on you on top of the death sentence, you are not being punished for it.

From all the possible gotchas, this is probably the weakest. In the military you have duties, and not aiding the enemy is one of them. So you are on the hook. Is it ok to write someone's name in a death note would have been a much more interesting situation.

Syrup flavorings. Which roughly boils down to a 1/2 ml per liter let's say orange or lemon essential oil. So it is pretty diluted and hard to OD.

Anyone understands essential oils? I wonder why some oils are marked as not for internal use (aside that they need massive dilution). What could possibly be done in the manufacturing process to make them unsafe and traces of what solvents could be inside? Otherwise it looks to me it's just a scam with the food-grade ones.

I always have thought that there are couple of nukes buried very deep down under Kiev and probably some other capitals during Stalin time designed to make a big holes in the ground and sink a big part of the capital cities in the non Russian USSR republics. And in that case Moscow will just blow them up.

The 18 years old horny guys and gals, brainwashed by numerous films about the party life and the whole society to follow their dreams are hardly the most levelheaded and pragmatic demographic.
I think Europe has a better solution - not so lavish student lifestyle, but heavily sponsored. Where I live the cost per semester for EU nationals is around the median monthly salary. And that is if you pay out of pocket. If you actually do well on the exam you can get subsidized which is roughly in half. Of course for foreigners it is a lot more expensive. So it is totally doable to study and work and be financially self sufficient.

I have long though of making effortpost - how Unreal Engine 3 and X-box 360 killed the game industry. But if you are looking for western game decline - it started around this time. It almost felt crazy when people praised total gameplay blandness like Gears of War, Mass Effect, Assassin's creed as masterpieces. I don't know what happened in 2006-7, but from then big budget games have been more miss than hit gameplay-wise.

I think that the pipelines are more vulnerable than the grid. The liquid fuel distribution system is quite fragile. And modern cars are terrible maintenance wise - the last real engines were the turbodiesels from the 80s - everything afterwards have too many electrical parts, black boxes and what not to also require a quite fragile distribution chain.

Only if we assume that gas station electricity per kwh will be lower than the one in the outlet at home. And the time it takes to charge is also free. Because I have a habbit to always start a journey with the tank full - those 20-sh minute detour to charge at the begging or end of trip are quite annoying - the 15 min breaks in the middle of the trips are not bad. So I could see the value. And anyway american homes consumes more and more electricity and are still stuck with feeble 110v outlets that can't deliver 2kw, using a hack (two phases ) to get something decent, so it is nigh time to update that part. I have often expressed desire to bump the power in EU homes to 7-10kw at the breaker.

Build it and they will come. If we want electric vehicle - and they are superior to ICE cars in every way but the charging speed and range - which I think will be solved in a decade or so - talking in principle - why current. Removing friction for buyers is good strategy. Putting solar panels on every roof in sunny area is also a good idea. In my corner in europe - we cook and dry and very often heat water with electricity. So once again - a good idea.
Natural gas is incredibly efficient when used for heating building - the real thermal energy we capture from the potential is 90% or so. So this is not a good policy if gas is readily available.
Energy storage for buildings will arrive 12 months after room temperature superconducters and 6 months after nuclear fusion. Whatever solution we come up with for grid storage and balancing will have one thing in common - will be incredibly bulky. Putting it on prime and expensive land makes no sense for a commodity that travels at the speed of light
I don't think it was culture war - probably just well meaning people with tentative grasp of current tech and the normal bureaucratic tendency to expand your authority.
If you want secure - threema or signal (they both have weaknesses, but are top tier)
If you want less secure with dubious E2E - whatsapp and viber
If you want only Putin to read your messages - Telegram
If you don't care at all - instagram/facebook
If you want to have no one to talk to - everything else
