Ukraine is an interesting one; I get wildly different reactions on being a strong anti Neo-Imperial Russia mark depending on who is online that day.

If you feel the need to label yourself MGTOW, if you put any serious amount of thought or energy into it, you are making an own goal at the first pass.

The majority of people here are wrong on the facts and have bad axioms from my standpoint, but I might be wrong. So, I come here every now and again to look at the people that disagree with me to see if I disagree with them.

I will explain it less off the cuff: Performing masculinity is easy for me, I've never had any angst over it. Thus, I feel contempt for men for whom it is not easy. Then, I remember normal mind bias and realize that my feelings are as justified as me feeling contempt for a dude with palsy not being able to lift what I can lift, and that it is unfair.

I can't agree with you on the stripmall/parking aesthetic, though. I think it's the fact that it they are built without any consideration for anything, not even for cost. They are actually usually way more expensive than they need to be, both over the long term and the short.

That is a really excellent outcome! I like the 1/8" strip idea; it really ads definition to the shape. Good choices all around here. Also mad jealous of your lumber yard; I only have access to good selections and prices on red and white oak or hyper rare weird tropical woods; maple walnut and cherry are way overpriced where I am.
Re. Miter angles:
I made 45 degree vertical and horizontal shooting boards and creep up to the line with a hand plane; results in a prefect, repeatable result every time; and it's very satisfying.
RE. Shellac:
I strongly recommend mixing your own. Shellac flakes have a shelf live much longer than yours, no more bad cans. I like to mix a supper light first coat of shellac, almost treating it like a sealer instead of a finish; then I'll do coats of with increasing amounts of shellac to denat until I'm at the level of coated-in-glass I like.

My understanding with most protestant/baptist denominations is that they throw out all the symbology and rituals like the Eucharist, which is kind of not what I'm looking for at the moment. Is that wrong?

Some Baptist churches are all fire and brimstone politics from the pulpit; the one I went attended/was baptized at spent a month of 3 hour sermons with a break in the middle for eating what you bought at the bake sale split between Communion, choral music with mandatory participation by everyone in the church, and drilling down on a single chapter/section of verses/verse with a gosh darn debate component.
Basically, it's very uneven. It could be that the type of church I imagine is dead and gone with the generation that attended them and they all turned into boomers and hyperstimulus.
My main position is that you gotta really know what you are getting into if you go for a catholic or orthodox church; you gotta know that the main thing your are signing up for is ritual and not religion. The religion part doesn't take place in the church.

The more trad protestant denominations can be good if you really like digging down on scripture instead of more rote sermons. (Baptists et all)

I'd say that it is entirely individual. I've seen aetheists shrug off the their inevitable brain cancer end, I've seen Christians kill themselves with stress worrying about loss of kidney function and heart problems.
