People always talk the fall of Rome like it means something. We are not Rome, the rest of the world also kept on spinning, China fielded larger armies that whole time yah know. in 300 BC they had armies numbering in the hundreds of thousands facing off. So no, WWII was not the first time a state could garrison a million men. Number of people in your army is not the measure of a state.

I don't know any people that had an "ooopsie" baby that are PMC, it is only lower class people that can't follow instructions or chose not to.
This is all really specific. If you don't want to have a kid all you have to do is not cum inside someone, that is super easy to not do.

How could a perfect use condom be 2%? It is a physical barrier. A perfect use condom can't be anything but 100% effective. Pill wise. I know zero people that have gotten pregnant on it unless "oops" I missed a few. Don't try to fuck with an already low fail percentage to justify abstinence stuff dude.
Also; no one in the history of sex has ever used a dental dam. This is detached from reality.

Property used contraception does work. The 5/100 is from people fucking it up. Also abstinence only education doesn't work you can look anywhere on earth and find that stats to back that up. Teens and young adults are going to fuck before getting married.
To your experience. It is surprisingly hard to find any info on abstinence-first education and perhaps the term is just not well defined enough to show up in the sea of competing abstinence only and full blown sex ed debates. I don't have a problem with that approach, except again, young attractive people are going to have sex with one another, unless you live in Korea, so you may as well teach them how to do it safely.

No I don't think that follows, blue states (and canada) are implementing right to die and red media is calling it forced suicide of undesirables. Terri Schiavo case was all right wing people trying to keep a vegetable with no brain matter left alive. I don't see right wingers actually taking their parents out back when they get demented. I see a lot more DNRs being set up by my blue family and old school repubs as opposed to the MAGA ones who are leaving it in Gods hands (Gods hands being extraordinary medical interventions at end of life).

You can't really improve your child much, you can only fuck 'em up. Good enough parenting 101. This is backed up by mountains of evidence and I agree completely (sometimes tone doesn't translate perfectly online, hence the ham fisted explanation I'm including here).
When I see people say this... People have been saying this forever. Last century had 2 world wars, several nuclear close calls, ethnic strife, political assassinations, riots, race riots, hollowing out of urban cores, the dust bowl, the great depression, a bunch of other wars, mass immigration, existential cold war tensions, the list goes on. The world is always like this, it isn't worse now or something. The can will be kicked forever, and I always feel like people who say things like this really don't hope they are wrong, they are hoping for the collapse. For some great reset where their chosen ideology will rise to the top, or just that their lives will be more exciting! (I want to explicitly point out that I don't think that is what is happening here, just that I have seen that be the case in many forums discussing similar topics!)

Well, except that isn't the "abstinence-only" perspective that the conservatives want. They don't want sex ed or contraception taught, they want only abstinence taught, it says it right in the name of the policy.
There have been many studies and philosophical reasonings on this. Anonymity, Dunbar's Number, reputational importance, clan survival, reciprocity odds, etc...The reasons are multitude and it is only in WEIRD societies that we can have nice cities and large groups that all act like small groups.

I think this ground has been trod over here and even by some radio news outfits I listen to. There simply isn't an elite pipeline that can deliver normal candidates with good educations and strong bona fides to the top of the republican ticket that can also appeal to the MAGA crowd. Repubs still do fine in local elections in many areas and have developed such a pipeline in the federalist society for court appointments. Democrats certainly have their race grifters, but repubs let in actual grifters time and time again even when it is obvious. There is just such a huge disconnect between MAGA and republicans like Mitt and the old guard. I mean the Republican MAGA presidential candidate is on TV rambling about Haitians eating dog meat in Ohio, and some people here will say, "well he is directionally correct". The fish is rotting from the head down.

I hear what you're saying and some of those are valid points. I would add that when comparing to other dangerous jobs, they all take mitigation and safety equipment into account as well. They don't just count tree trimmers killed without a helmet. Criminals, just like cops, are also citizens, their lives do count towards statistical death rates and can be included in national averages. A counter point is that not all cops work in places like south side chicago, yet most act like they do. I certainly understand that it can be a stressful job when no one is ever really happy to see you and you're dealing with a lot of the worst people on their worst day, I've had good and bad encounters with cops, 99% of the time while driving; I'm always polite, there really was no excuse for the bad encounters and it certainly soured me on the whole profession from a young age.
To quote the late great Warren Zevon. -"The Sheriff's got his problems too, he will surely take them out on you"
If you are willing to bet enough I'll fly out there and check. Flights aren't that expensive. I should be able to tell if there are 20k extra people from Haiti eating birds and whatnot. No one ever puts their money where their mouth is. Many people talk a lot, few are up for the moment. Round trip is only 200 bucks!

These are 2 huge pet peeves of mine as well. Garbage people gonna garbage, unfortunately, motorcycle guys are the worst for blowing out your ear drums as you're walking down town, don't leave them out. I don't get it "I LIKE IT LOUD AND DARK!!!" Insanity.
We have been using that tech by burning dirty bunker fuel high in sulfur and also injecting clouds into the upper atmo with contrails. We just need to ramp that kind of thing up a bit. No need for building a sun shade/super laser mirror weapon at the lagrange point.
We've also been experimenting with dumping greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere in ever increasing amounts for hundreds of years. Are we only allowed to increase the temp or something?

I compared apples to apples. I didn't count all the citizens that only got paralyzed or injured as well. Some citizens live in higher crime areas where they are more likely to be killed by violence. I fail to see your point here.

Yep, us civilians better be a lot more on edge than cops based on those stats. Considering on average a non-cop has a 50% higher chance of being murdered.
Their life has only changed forever if they are against abortion.
