The Wednesday Wellness threads are meant to encourage users to ask for and provide advice and motivation to improve their lives. It isn't intended as a 'containment thread' and any content which could go here could instead be posted in its own thread. You could post:
-
Requests for advice and / or encouragement. On basically any topic and for any scale of problem.
-
Updates to let us know how you are doing. This provides valuable feedback on past advice / encouragement and will hopefully make people feel a little more motivated to follow through. If you want to be reminded to post your update, see the post titled 'update reminders', below.
-
Advice. This can be in response to a request for advice or just something that you think could be generally useful for many people here.
-
Encouragement. Probably best directed at specific users, but if you feel like just encouraging people in general I don't think anyone is going to object. I don't think I really need to say this, but just to be clear; encouragement should have a generally positive tone and not shame people (if people feel that shame might be an effective tool for motivating people, please discuss this so we can form a group consensus on how to use it rather than just trying it).

Notes -
A 3rd party reseller on Amazon tried to rip me off. I use an iPad to take notes (best in the business, Android tablets are lacking, and I hate Apple).
Back when I used to use pen and paper, I always ended up misplacing months worth of notebooks on a regular basis. Much easier when it's all digital and backed up to the cloud, especially when you can annotate textbooks and notes with a stylus.
My trusty old iPad Air started giving up the ghost, it had a cracked screen that hadn't been a problem for the last 4 years, but I guess the digitizer had enough, and I wasn't willing to pay Apple's repair charges.
I shopped around, saw a good deal on a refurbished m2 iPad Pro, and ordered it, though I had my fingers crossed since the quality was "acceptable".
Turns out it wasn't. The fuckers sent me a 2020 model, the one with the A12Z instead of an M2. It's a good thing I have an autistic obsession with keeping track of hardware that doesn't physically change in appearance year over year.* I was too ticked off to bother waiting for the seller to respond to my angry messages, so I ended up escalating to Amazon. I'm enjoying roasting their chestnuts over a fire, and with any luck I might end up with a third iPad, or at least my money back. Yay for strong consumer protection laws in the UK, though I hope not to need them.
*I noticed Apple's sign up email mention the generation, and went huh, that doesn't look right.
Edit: I was idiot. The larger and smaller iPad pros are out of sync in terms of generation counts, and they sent me the right one. I suppose a 5 star review will make things right.
