Of course recently Saudi-Arabia has taken steps away from this alliance (ie. now joining BRICS), but I daresay that has less to do with US stance vis-a-vis Israel and more to do with general strategic/trade concerns and the uncomfortable match with America's (claimed) human rights agenda.
It is also an attempt to force the US to play hardball with Iran without Saud firing up their own nuclear program, which I think is understated as it concerns the American Alliance.
So what is your expectation for how "I was trying to get banned" is going to work out?
Like... assuming the mods are hostile to your presence outright stating "I am no longer participating in the forum in good faith but to get a rise out of people" in a public call out post is pretty much giving them an out for permabanning you.
As someone who does run against the rules fairly often for being too spicy, it isn't something I have any complaints about. I just sometimes forget which ruleset I am under.
My only complaints are what would happen when new mods come up, but that hasn't happened yet.
Yeah, KiwiFarms is fun for what it is, but it's not some shining beacon of Truth and Realness from "the old Internet," it's a collection of people who really like watching trainwrecks, pointing and laughing, mocking, bullying, and driving people into a rage.
People forget that being a goon would get you kicked out of much of the old internet because of places like helldump.
Or it could be that black progressives have different origins and I have different interactions with them.
It is hilarious when you can set them against each other.
Your mixed race white progressives are very different from the Black Hebrew Israelites I am used to dealing with.
Egypt is also the second largest recipient of military aid, and they're much larger a nation than their adversary in Israel.
I put it more at around 3 million invested so it throws out a good yearly salary in returns. Otherwise unburdened and you can do whatever you want without too much hardship, at least enough to get free housing from someone who matters.
The problem is proving it to a Yale Graduate judge. They can still hide behind ivy prestige.
If it is only orbit, I'm fairly certain we might see something by Dec '24, but July '25 would be I feel most comfortable
Would you like to make a bet?
It would still be speaking unclearly.
You take control of hiring, bring in a bunch of people loyal to you over the mob, and spread them out. Use them to identify who's blocking you, and fire them for cause (i.e. insubordination). Keep going until most of the paper-pushers cave (remember, only some of them feel strongly enough to risk their jobs, but a lot more will go with the flow and/or have a chain of command going through a troublemaker; rip out the first and the second and third will mostly play ball). It's not easy, but it's possible.
So are you ready and able to knock down the laws that require merit based hiring so you can choose a Hillsdale grad over a Yale grad? There are a lot of laws that prevent a return to the spoils system of old and doing this would require getting past them.
I was always under the impression that the aid to Israel was mostly about them not shutting down the Suez again.
Depends on where you are, the truly idle rich in my area are probably the top 2 % , but they are clustered here so likely less than 1โฐ globally.
So at worst the Charters have similar pressures?
And Utah is pretty much the only state which wouldn't rebel against an establishment of the Mormon church. It may as well be establishment of Zorastrianism.
What is dishonest about it? Are you someone who hates cocktails and bars? Probably not. Don't veto something until you actually know if you'd be disgenuine about it.
I pivoted to Snow Crash and also found the first 50 or so pages painfully dull.
I thought that was the intent of Hero Protagonist as a character.
Because people who benefit from elite backgrounds generally have the benefits that make them deserve it.
When your parent is able to homeschool you and groom you into an elite, you generally end up with the skills to get where you need to without any direct support from them.
But I suppose my definition of elite is the genuine American Aristocracy rather than someone's dad owning a car dealership.
Why Mormon theocracy? It seems as worthwhile as Jewish theocracy for all the US would accept it.
You know, I actually agree with this, there's a certain fairness to it. Someone charged with insurrection should, if they win a presidential election within a reasonable window (four years is fine), be acquitted on the basis that they ultimately won a rightful claim on power.
It is more a practical thing where it is particularly hard to depose someone who wins 51% of the voting public without breaking everything.
And if the King of England went around ordering the execution of those who displeased him and it was his right to do so, how long would he keep the crown?
Not very long, I suspect.
Trump is either an insurrectionist or he isn't, and if he wins the General, rules written, by definition he isn't. Disqualifying him from the General is either perfunctory or damaging to the system and not Trump.
The actual fucking solution to the problem of a second Trump term is to corral the power of the executive rather than an executive.
If Donald Trump wins the general election, disqualified or not, he will still be the president.
I am not going to vote for him and he is a prat, but this is almost a sovereign citizen tier attempt to lawyer what cannot be lawyered, assuming it is actually in good faith.
I am not appreciative of people pushing the Kayfabe that covers "The President is who the most important people believe the president is" to the breaking point like this.
Beauty in the built environment is a symbolic way of saying that this culture and this place is worth making beautiful. I think you can see this with religion the most clearly. In the early days of religion, you had big, bold beautiful cathedrals, chalices and bowls made of precious metals and jewels, ornate vestments, and so on. And it was a reflection of the way (at the time Catholic) Christianity saw itself and the world. God was worthy of the absolute best. In modern times, Christian churches are often placed in strip malls or reclaimed businesses, built to be functional but not much else. And I think itโs leading to at least some of the decline in religious interest. God has been reduced to something unworthy, something that only deserves the cheapest of materials, the most banal of music and to be squeezed in next to the Orange Julius and Xist Fitness and a cheap cafeteria.
One would assume there is a correlation between cathedrals and church growth while strip mall churches meet with failure, when the correlation is very much negative. The denominations that hold and maintain the tall steeple churches tend to be the ones living off of trust funds rather than congregants while the "is the new building a cannabis farm or a church?" Denominations are the ones in a consistent growth cycle (before imploding due to governance issues so mine picks up the pieces.)
If you want to you can compare the American methodists with the non-denominational Baptists and see that story play out. I'm certain that the lack of beauty does have some play in it, but it is far below a lot of other driving forces.
So if Yang is a wolf and Corinna is a wolf, who is the lamb?
In a separate vein, I suppose as a society we've aught to figure out what to do with a bunch of infertile, underdeveloped, and purposeless/telosless young people. The usual modes of hedonism I am pretty sure aren't going to an option for this class so it is likely that left alone they go to even more anti-social routes. Any ideology that picks them up is going to have people who have fire and will not age-out of it.
I hope I don't have to impress upon you how much of problem that will become...
