I saw something on Twitter recently showing that the highest wage growth in recent years has been to people making under twenty dollars an hour. That matches my anecdotal evidence well enough. I saw a McDonalds offering $17.50 an hour a few days ago. Ten years ago that would have been a literal minimum wage job.

The UK’s RUSI (something like the British version of the Rand Corporation, ie. the main state funded military think tank) published a recent report on the first six months of the Ukraine war. I know a lot of amateur urban planners will never acknowledge this, but a car is the most pleasant, efficient way to get anywhere more than a few blocks away. You're not going to get 99% of people out their cars unless you actively make driving unfeasible.
