At which point once more we have stretched the definition of grooming to nigh uselessness

No, we have seen people mutilate definitions and concepts to deflect criticism of teachers "hatching little eggs," because it's a bridge too far to justify grooming kids on the merits. You can tell that's the strategy being used because the response to "why is this teacher showing my kid porn and telling him he'd look sexy in a dress" is "woah, how is that any different than promoting patriotism, tu quoque!"

The only conclusion I can see is that it's a tactical argument to hide actual support for the grooming.

The majority of highbrow independent publishing appears to be conservative. Measuring things by ad targeting is frankly nuts because the entire ecosystem of intelligent people on the internet are adblocked ghosts to advertisers.

No, it makes me less sympathetic, because it's clear that the concept is only a weapon that doesn't get used to identify actual "power structures," but rather to provide cover for existing power structures that the critical theorist is embedded in. The concept doesn't have either explanatory or emancipatory power, because it can never be deployed except by the already powerful against the powerless.
The only way for conservatives to become "officially structurally oppressed" would be for them to take over all the universities and government so that they had the absolute power to crush anyone who didn't agree they were structurally oppressed. It would be as sick a joke as the current DEI tyranny.

If your theory about structural oppression results in you having a $400,000/yr job blacklisting job candidates who don't support the theory loudly enough, the theory itself was the oppression.
If your theory about structural oppression results in a handful of weirdos in a coffee shop talking about how powerless they are, the theory was useless as the tool against oppression it was intended to be.
Either way, the theory was bunk.

This place would be a lot more interesting if AnechoicMedia_ and sonyasupposedly were still around.

The "there is no such thing as antifa" "actually I support antifa and their goals" routine eventually got old, and once the sub moved to an independent site there was no value to be had in colonizing a mainstream discussion space. The only draw now is discussion with people who disagree with you, which members of the previous leftist user group have said does not motivate them (quotes available on request, I take a lot of screenshots).

I just looked at all the left wing accounts that used to post on the motte. If they were still here we would be arguing over whether or not Israel is carrying out false flag attacks to end hostage trades so that people don't find out how kindly Hamas treated the hostages. There would be fights to justify Ireland's new ban criminalizing possession of material that might incite racial hatred. There would be, uh, lots of posts about how "right wing people fuck toasters" and every member of Trump's family should be executed? That last one might be an outlier, but theschism is welcome to it regardless.
Are we interested in that? I'm sick and tired of it personally, because most of the engagement on reddit was bad faith arguments and outright trolling by people who enjoyed torturing their opponents with the backing of reddit admins.

Where are you looking?

Didn't Gattsuru post about furry fetish porn culture war drama in this week's thread? Or was that last week?

Talking about TW dogwhistling being a furry is hilarious. It's like going "woah, talking about 'cleansing a Living Space for his Folk'? You guys, I'm starting to suspect some subtle dogwhistles on the part of GasTheKikes1488"
IIRC Tracing has "I am a furry, here is my favorite gay furry porn I made with the gay furry porn AI generator" in all his bios. It's not exactly a secret that he makes clever oblique references to.

In fairness he's a bit more on the downlow than @komm-nach-unteralterbach

if I was wrong, he should be able to point this out in a few years.

If Gattsuru won't ask you directly, I will. Were you wrong? Were your confident predictions not an honest appraisal that you planned to stick by, but just a tool to win an argument and shut people up?

If a post breaks the rules, reporting it is still the best solution.

Not if the moderators decide to not do their job because they like a troll poster, or want to encourage similar troll posters for "forum diversity." Very few posts that make good arguments are ever downvoted, and it gives the forum population a voice to deal with spammy agenda-posters (or hock-posters) that doesn't rely on the mods.

Would a fursuit satisfy Islamic requirements for female modesty?

By allah, are you questioning the chastity of the martyr Farfour?

The recent rework made it better, but remember when any fluid contamination in a pipe would run through the whole system, and you had to chase down the errant bit of water by tearing up all the pipes? And pipes would automatically join when placed next to each other even if they had different fluids in them?

How long does it take to have sex?

An entire four day weekend ideally, IIRC. Good luck handling that in your thirties: I know I couldn't.

Buy a laundromat

It seems like there are a lot of people doing this right now, but I would advise being very cautious. There are a lot of declining "mom and pop" businesses with massive hidden costs that sellers want to avoid disclosing, and newbies are falling into the trap. Water systems that need a complete rebuild, leaking gas tanks that touching in any way will cause a decade of EPA paperwork and fees/fines, and oh god the air conditioning. Not to mention lost suppliers and big clients that are making a lot of rural businesses impossible to run, but which the seller's carefully truncated records will show no sign of.

Someone in my town got conned into taking over a grocery store, and ended up paying multiple times the purchase price just to have the 60 year old gas tanks dug up and the soil sanitized to the EPA's satisfaction. He died, and now his aging boyfriend sells stationary and knick-knacks while serially renting out other parts of the building to restaurants and hobby stores that rarely survive a year (and never pay their rent that long).
Overall not a great investment.

It was much harder before blueprints and bots, IIRC. And that was back in the dark days when belts decompressed from turning corners

This is one of those horrible situations where I could see myself making this call, and would sympathize with anyone who was in that position... except agents of the british government.
There are legitimately "injuries incompatible with life" that should cause a physician to cease all but palliative treatment; it's almost obscene to go through the motions of treating bisection, brain destruction, and other unsurvivable conditions as if you're seriously trying to save the patient, and every cell in your body being unable to function due to an innate and permanent defect is one of those cases.

On the other hand, people in the US have now started surviving bisection thanks to a tradition of unlimited care in the most hopeless cases, while Canada has slid down the slope of euthanizing patients like a Krieg medic faster than anyone ever imagined. Even if it's a decision I'd make, it's not one I would trust anyone else to.

Maybe it was the horrible fluid system, but a lot of factorio players used to consider oil refining to be really unpleasant work. Not even just a difficulty barrier for newbies, but something even the big team megabase builders drew straws for having to do.
That said I would absolutely love a refinery sim, so maybe it just takes autism beyond autism.

I'm struggling to even understand this sentence. I didn't bother getting a license until after college (when I finally needed one), and had the best sex of my life between 13 and 20. Because it turns out it's really fun when you have teenage stamina and basically unlimited time on your hands during summer break.

In other words, around 10 times as many cis children as trans children will find themselves unable to breastfeed later in life due to gender affirming surgeries

Calling mastectomies for cancer treatment "gender-affirming surgery" so you can lump them in with cosmetic surgery goes so far beyond disingenuous that I'm actually shocked you're trying it.

It's often best to build a reputation in a community before asking questions like this, because saying "not a gotcha, honest" is the third fastest way to make people suspect it's a gotcha (the first two will shock totally own you!)

This is exactly what happened with our local healthcare. Nurse past retirement age finally "retired," then took up private practice to fill the gaps left by the completely incompetent hospital district, now "retiring for real except for helping friends/whoever asks because she can't say no."

Competent boomers were absolutely doing all the actual work, and losing them is destroying the institutional knowledge of every industry.

Hi, curious if you have further thoughts about this given the events of the last few weeks, especially things like this: https://twitter.com/RachelJessWolff/status/1719901617305084373

Have you seen any pushback from fellow leftists? Can you link examples of any?

The S&P500 is at the same level it was in early 2021. Inflation has increased prices significantly since then. The real value of my life savings has decreased by that amount. What part of this is partisan blindness on my part?

Oh, and if my capital gains ever do make up for the inflation, I'll be taxed on the purely nominal increase, further reducing the real value of my life savings.

Your sources are a yougov poll which says that people are financially coping... slightly less well as they were at the the worst point of covid disruption, and a low effort piece of blogspam with no data.
The same writer also has a piece with the exact opposite sentiment, because in that one she was pushing "struggling women need another 16 billion in government funding" rather than "dumb republicans are blinded to how amazing the economy is doing"

It is ridiculously and deliberately obnoxious.
