Travis Kelce has been 'good football player' famous for a while, though arguably his brother did more to spark the initial interest in the Kelce brand and then provided the vehicle for Travis to be more outspoken.

Yeah. I feel the majority of Right wing antisemites might feel that Jewish influence is way larger than their population share should facilitate, but would also take Jewish neighbors in their suburb over other outgroup neighbors all day, every day.

Likewise with Israel-Palestine I get a sentiment of 'Israel are probably breaking international norms/active unethically, but also Palestine being Lebanon 5.0 would be a negative for all involved compared to illegitimate Jewish occupation'

That is a cheque that medical science as it exists today simply can't cash. No amount of hormones, surgery or makeup will get you there. I still sympathize and empathize with them simply not being happy in their bodies, I think the correct solution is to change the body, when that's feasible.

This is essentially where I'm at with the Trans movement. I don't think it's wrong to want to be the other gender, and I feel that society should potentially be open to recognizing that. However, I think that modern surgical interventions fall way short of making somebody the other gender, and incur significant morbidity for essentially no gainful reason. I firmly believe that gender reassignment surgery will be viewed as akin to lobotomy in 50 years.

Hell if we all decided tomorrow that people wearing blue hats are men, and people wearing pink hats are women, implicitly, I'd have no problem with somebody deciding to switch hats.

Also to be frank I'd expect interspousal transfers to skew male -> female in terms of who created the funds. For every Mackenzie Scott there's hardly a counterbalancing force of... I don't know, Travis Kelce deciding to donate future Taylor Swift's money to the NRA.

I feel like terrible stories in older games were easier to ignore/part of the appeal, too. Plenty of games where if you ignored a few pages in the manual and got down to Rip & Tearing it was a lot easier to just play. Compared to today's unskippable cutscenes.

I've got close single female friends. They vigorously filter people who'd frankly be good enough for longterm partnership every week for all sorts of reasons. The majority of the women I met through the apps who I still have on social media are conspicuously single and/or making no progress towards their stated goal of settling down and having kids based on their stories and these aren't clubthots, majority are UMC, educated sensible women. Their main reasons for rejection all verge more around 'he was boring' or 'I did not feel he was my soulmate and my very being was electrified to be around him'. Admittedly feminine sexuality is a lot more 100-0 than male sexuality, but the current state of affairs is a vigorous own goal caused by that.

I agree on the advice criteria since, despite being significantly more difficult to achieve, 'just clean up and be confident bro' is way more actionable advice than 'stop looking for Mr. Perfect' but on the other hand I feel like the average male would be able to solve the dating woes of most women within a week if a freaky friday situation occurred.

Yeah but for a male the process of going from the computer lifestyle to adequately interfacing with dating is likely going to equate to making a bunch of lifestyle changes and grinding away at social experience to be anywhere near competitive in the market. For a girl, you create a dating app profile and you can be awash in suitors within 3 hours unless you are like bottom 2 percentile attractive.

I spent about a year on the dating app grind recently enroute to finding a longterm partner, and to get to the point where I was getting consistent positive attention took about 6 month of self improvement between weight loss, social learnings etc and that's as a 6'4, high-earning white guy with low-moderate aspergers tendency. The NEET version of myself is likely still floundering around. I ended up going on about 70 first dates during that year (50~ of which came after I was 'reasonably attractive'), and it's pretty striking to me how many of the women I met who I didn't end up with seem to be still stuck in an endless singleton rut years after the event. Most of these women are attractive, intelligent, had good jobs, 25-30 years old, reasonable educations and ostensibly want kids/commitment yet I believe they are their own worst enemies in a lot of ways.

Also the dynamics of saying No were different back in the day. Bachelorette status meant living at home under the parental yoke without any particular ability to earn funds independently.

I think games have just scaled as a project to the point that there's too many cooks in the kitchen. Also credentialism likely trends more formulaic compared to when even majorish projects would prettymuch be 'somebody's cousin + moderate drug use = Elder Scrolls mythos'

Seemed to be, especially when they prettymuch communicated in their release about the attack that it was going to be majority slow-flying drones.

Plus #3 is a response that is going to be ineffective against Israel, but is a legitimate deterrent to everybody else in the region who doesn't have the Iron Dome setup.

There have been attempts and some successful consolidations, but also a lot of these small businesses are complete landmines that don't work as advertised

Yeah. Similar to the one in Australia recently on the Indigenous voice where the opposition were campaigning around the lines of 'This is not the appropriate way to recognize the Indigenous and may be an overreach' instead of 'Ha! This is an absurdity' direct refutation. Which makes it a bit harder to capitalize on the failure.

Honestly surprised me that somebody with his interests actually did something in the real world, especially something so grandiosely self-destructive. Big From Software game enthusiast.

Personally I don't take much umbrage at somebody choosing to identify as another sex/change their pronouns, but I feel that gender confirmation surgery is a crude facisimile that's 99% likely to be considered Lobotomesque in a generation or two. Whether that's due to the whole transgenderism thing falling out of vogue, or the evolution of something (whether digital avatars or genetic remixing) that actually accomplishes the goal.

It is a six-hour miniseries and at least 70% of the show is filled with boring relationship drama (the remaining 30% being focused on the actual…criminal investigation).

I feel like this is generally an issue with miniseries. There's this relentless need to take the half of the show that's about an interesting topic (Mindhunter particularly galling for this) and then wedge it against the protagonist's personal relationship issues, especially if it's a period piece with period vibes for the main concept and yet the protagonist is living their personal problems through 2020 norms and cultural memes. I understand the actual core stuff is what costs money and is hard to write, but the amount of shows where it has to be wild pingponging between 'here is the thing the show is about' and 'here is his girlfriend feeling neglected' is ridiculous.

I've never understood why the guillotine isn't the most humane way. Big enough/fast enough pneumatic press with a big enough blade and there's few things plausibly more consistent.

I feel like the relentless optimization of sports has also contributed to this. Everybody's got media training out the ass, the majority of games have congealed around one or two correct ways to play a given position and exposure to Instagram etc. means that whilst the stars are more accessible than they've ever been there's just not that much of a cult of personality around them.

Or maybe I'm getting old.

Isn't the other failure state some version of 'your metric of rating high performers is flawed/becomes gamed' at which point you become Enron in which anybody who isn't committing fraud upon fraud upon fraud is fucked.

I never heard of the Madagascar plan before but as an alt history that would be one of the more interesting things if it happened especially for the HBD crowd if 6 million Jews went there.

There were a few equivalent ones. Northern Australia was also mooted, and I'd love to see a counterfactual in which the Australian Indigenous had to fare with that particular settlement.

I do feel like it's tricky for CFB since, aside from the perennial bluebloods with infinity $'s, the transitory nature of college players means that promotion & relegation could mean a lot of awkward yo-yoing.

If some random no-hoper team happens to get a super prospect for a few years and gets promoted 2 or 3x times due to having that incredible player... then the next decade of the team's existence is likely gonna be depressing and downward focused.

There's literally hundreds of colleges in each division. Plus each team is completely replacing its roster every 4-5 years

According to my Chinese wife accumulating a big list of churches you’ve attended is a strategy for claiming religious refugee status.

You can just list off different churches you've attended and pattern-match to somebody else's semi-recent claim of repression?

Online Dating optimization stuff does exist from what I've seen, but I think it's a bit more balkanized since there's more stuff like 'Profile coaching' and 'Profile photoshoots' as opposed to the more direct-line PUA stuff.

Great point. Collectivist living'd skew it back, definitely wouldn't expect them to be top 2 for average adult incomes.
