But making that argument is pretty difficult and involves a set of tools to prove it that were, until recently, unavailable to the homeschooling crowd.

A lot of the tools were there back in 1955, in a bestselling book.

Scott hosted an ACC about circumcision several years ago, where IMO the pro- side came out stronger.

That would also kill this site, and whatever

They deprive themselves, their children, and their grandchildren of the benefits of a greater family community, and for what? To preserve their free time so they may pursue degenerate hobbies?

First, there're other ways to have a greater family community: I know a family who lives close to their cousins and has a good community with them, despite their being only two siblings.

Second, do you claim that all hobbies are degenerate? If not, can you substantiate the claim that most parents of <4 children are specifically pursuing degenerate hobbies?

(Third, before we think about having children, perhaps the dating market needs fixing. But yeah, that's another topic, however personal it might feel to me.)

Among other problems, what counts as "the people"? Do "the people" even have a coherent enough viewpoint for someone to be their ideological enemy?

If we can build them cheaply, yes. Perhaps I should look closer, but I haven't been convinced. Land for tunnels isn't as expensive, but whole new costs would show up for excavation and support.

This's a noble dream, but it's the same dream I've heard about from boosters of self-driving cars. What advantage do the tunnels add? They'll help prevent congestion aboveground, but the whole mechanism for making them cheap is making them narrow - so a two-lane road aboveground will be just as useful as a two-lane tunnel underground.

(And that's if the tunnel can be made cheap, which I seriously doubt.)
